Re' Eh - Your actions are shown in your behavior

Re' Eh - Your actions are shown in your behavior

From this week’s Torah Portion - “See, I put before you today blessing and curse.”   The blessing will go to those who keep the Torah and its Mitzvahs, and the curse, will directly affect those who do NOT adhere to the Torah and the Mitzvahs!

We witness what might seem very simplistic; The words “See” & “listen” seem almost interchangeable, or are they? The word see is used “SEE”, and not what one might have thought, the word, “LISTEN”, as in, “Listen, I’ll explain to you………”.   So, why is it written and was used the word, “SEE”, which in Hebrew is the name of this Portion, “RE’EIH”?!?

The answer is rather simple, or is it; just ask my mom, or yours! As the ancient scholars and scholastic Rabbis believed, SEEING IS BELIEVING!   When a person hears something, he/she may not always believe it, or perhaps he/she did not fully hear, listen clearly and/or comprehend completely!   Seeing is an absolute, and a person that actually sees something accepts it as fact and is able to confirm it.  We are challenged to see the physically 'unseeable' and to deal with abstractions of thought and policy and make them real.

The words were chosen very carefully!  With the true act of SEEING, we have absolute, a sincere focus, and are able to have full comprehension,m or pretty close to it!  We, as humans are allowed to experience this for ourselves, and NOT be passive and just hear, but to be a participant in our own lives’!    “I have put this blessing before you”.  It is on US to fully experience it!? It deals directly with OUR OWN action, behaviors, rituals coupled with the sincere belief!

I believe this is allowing us to have growth and opportunity from within, and gives us the option to choose – that is a true gift indeed.  The choice is the gift!  “I put this before YOU..”.  As a person, you have decisions; you have an ability to make a choice to help determine your own future and destiny; be it good, bad, or indifferent. Again, behavior and action!

Judaism is "Orthopraxy";

(  In the study of religion, orthopraxy is correct conduct, both ethical and liturgical, as opposed to faith or grace.[1][2][3] Orthopraxy is in contrast with orthodoxy, which emphasizes correct belief, and ritualism, the practice of rituals.[4] The word is a neoclassical compound—ὀρθοπραξία (orthopraxia) meaning 'right practice'.

While orthodoxies make use of codified beliefs, in the form of creeds, and ritualism more narrowly centers on the strict adherence to prescribed rites or rituals, orthopraxy is focused on issues of family, cultural integrity, the transmission of tradition, sacrificial offerings, concerns of purity, ethical system, and the enforcement thereof.[5][6]

In Hinduism, orthopraxy and ritualism are not easily disentangled. Judaism is also considered both a religion and orthopraxy as it guides its adherents in both practice and belief.[7])

It is therefore presented to ALL of us, a very awesome opportunity!  Is your perception that you have a great opportunity to grow both from your inner and deep soul, so your life may be full of blessings, or maybe you have another vision?  WE ALL HAVE THE SAME OFFER AND INVITATION! It is a choice in the manner we walk, in the way we treat others, how we act with and without people around us…. Do we walk The Walk, and proactively practice it?

Your life should be one full of many possible, beautiful opportunities, and choices, and this should be seen as a true gift, as it has given us the opportunity to maintain such a positive attitude that will yield blessing/mitzvahs!  Don’t be so overwhelmed by the road blocks (may be viewed as a curse), and don’t allow ALL the challenges to impede your growth! Life does have definite hiccups, but SEE it as just that, and it too, will help with your GROWTH & YOUR ACTUAL WALK THE WALK ...........focus on each and every day, and yes, the challenges should be LOOKED at with a laser focus and hopefully can be overcome!  Keep a very acute focus, and you'll SEE your own choice of growth inside and out!

So Re’eih is as much a state of mind and contemplation as it is one of actual eyesight.
REMEMBER, YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL INSIDE and OUT, and that can be SEEN! Practice daily YOUR walk and actions!

Shelach - Seek & Look Around!

Seek & Look Around.... “And what the land is, whether it is plentiful or bare, be there trees, or not……”  (13:20) It is explained by Rashi that “ TREE ” is metaphorically referring to an honorable and righteous person who shall protect and defend his domain! A very admirable characteristic indeed. We all are aware that Moses was sending in ‘the spies’, should he not have sent them in with a directive of searching for an honorable person and a home of righteousness, prayer, and sincere study of Torah?  Why then did Moses send them to just public areas?  I see the answer is rather simplistic in nature, but with deep thought; when a city/town has a population of honorable and righteous persons and those who govern, it is reflective upon the city/town itself!  As I’ve shared before, the influence of a person and his/her solid attributes and sincere beliefs are not bound by a ‘wall’, but rather felt by the community where he/she resides, and the ...

Ki Tisa - A Choice For Growth

Ki Tisa - A Choice for Growth March 2&3, 2018 In this week's reading, we read that within just a few weeks after Moses presented The Torah to  the people, the masses descended to a deeply disturbing behavior when Moses was not among them and embarked back to Mt. Sinai; the sinful behavior of worshipping idols! –  The Golden Calf! There was extreme upheaval, disturbing behaviors, but we read that Moses stepped up and pleaded with  such sincerity,  love and thoughtfulness, and shares that benign attitude and talks to the people with humanity! He made  a choice. He  chose to not create even more disturbing behavior, but made the decision to try to create a  positive environment and build up, and with the people through this "hiccup".  Does this mean, we as people can practice disturbing behavior, commit a crime, tell a blatant lie, hurt another life, etc. and then immediat...

Ki Teitzi ei - We are and/or need to be ONE!

Ki Teitzi ei - We are and/or  need to be ONE!                                      In this week's Torah portion, we read about many mitzvahs/commandments- 74 to be exact, and that is more than in any other Torah reading!  We can see that in Hebrew, this is Ayin Dalet , which also stands for ‘ed’ (not pronounced like Mr. Ed or the movie “Ted”).  The two letters in the Hebrew alphabet, Ayin and Dalet are enlarged in the first sentence of the Shema, and together these two letters form the word ‘ed’, which means ‘witness’ or ‘forever’, strongly suggesting that the Shema has the utmost influence on us, day in and day out!   It should be within our souls. Interestingly, the word ‘echad’ in Hebrew can imply a unity in diversity.  For example, Exodus 26:6 when speaking of the Tabernacle (Mishkan) is to be built so that “it shall be built, so it will be one (echad) ...
