Bamidbar- Here's OUR Chance

Bamidbar-  Here's OUR Chance

We are seeing it, feeling it, experiencing it emotionally, the ups and the downs of this rather overwhelming Covid-19 world-wide pandemic virus; many people growing extremely exhausted with the stay at home orders, wearing masks when out and about, and some are even in avoidance mode.   In today's very uncertain and somewhat unsettling world at current time, we need to shift our focus on the growth of our new norm and build up successes within our own lives and focus together, as well as individually.

Like in this week's Parsha/Torah reading, some new rules and regulations continue, like that of the Census and somewhat of a division thereof,in both the reading and in today's modern world in the USA.  In our own modern society, this is very true!  It's something that was absolutley created and although helpful (we'll call it that) at times, it has also created great harm to humankind!
Yes, for "the records", it is "vital.  What is extremely vital and essential right at this moment is YOU!  Your well-being, how are you emotionally, spiritually, growing, coupled with fact-based knowledge and educational challenges that are currently presented to ALL of us?

This is now OUR chance to RE-establish, Re-Organize, Re-Familiarize, Re-Commit, Re-Do,Re-Growth, Re-alize that part of who we are and OUR self and our importance makes a difference!  A proactive difference to have a positive affect on our society/societies!  Is it absolutley difficult at times? Of course, but allow yourself, no matter the climb, to be able to make the trek and make a positive impact;YOUR positive impact and help re-define THE GOOD! It's our opportunity to shine NOW, for those of us who are able.

In life, both physically and spiritually, we as people must make second efforts, and take chances! When we take a deeper look at The Torah, the theme speaks for itself; our forefathers and matriarchs had to make second and even third efforts to remain or return to being able to practice their faith and beliefs.  They once were slaves, some gave up hope and others searched for freedom and Israel while roaming for 40 years or so!  They persevered and took that 2nd chance indeed.  It was definitely challenging times, as is TODAY!

Bamidbar outlines over and over, how we are always given another chance.    This translates into persistence (water always flowing), pure passion (as in the fire always must not go out and burn brightly inside),and this can absolutely happen even in a place that is barren - like the desert, or like the new normal, our new normal!  We must be adaptable or learn to be adaptable!

Adaptability-
we must be willing to step out of our own comfort zones, take 2nd chances and always continue to persevere and help our World!   See what is presented before you!

Remember,as the story is told and interpreted, the Torah was given to us in the wilderness and it's teachings do not rely on walls and a certain territory or labeling.  Torah can not be limited to a certain time, to a definite place, and within a specific 'society' or sector!  We must adapt, and accept change, and challenges.  This holds true in our daily lives too, as difficult as it may be, like our most recent weeks.

Even if you don't usually text or call a family member or friend out of habit, just pick up your phone and reach out to one person and check in; it just may change his/her world and you've done a Mitzvah/Blessing for both that human being and yourself. That's building UP!

Terumah - What's The Gift ?

Terumah - What's The Gift ? February 16 and 17, 2018 The word, "Terumah" means "gift', "contribution", "offering" .  This Torah portion continues to detail and share the story of the building of "The Tabernacle, or Temple", and it's ornamentation from the men and women! Women?  Yes, it explicitly states that the instructions that were utilized were intended for BOTH men and women!  This really stands out in indelible ink of sorts, as it is very clear that women were invited and actively open to participate in an inclusive manner, in what might be considered a very male dominated cult-like society!   The interpretation, "Let THEM make a sanctuary", "men AND women, all whose hearts moved them."  This really stands out beautifully, as THE women got to be participants and viewed with some equality, as well as some equity in society! Is the actual "building" of the Temple the gift ...

Do We Really Expect Results From Repenting?

Do We Really Expect Results From Repentance? As Yom Kippur approaches us, we are asked & expected ,year in and year out, on this ONE day to repent for our wrongdoings, impure thoughts, harmful acts, and ill behaviors for the past year!  Judaism is NOT the only religion/faith to follow this thought , as other ones also have their asking of forgiveness and repentance.  According to Merriam Webster; the action or process of  repenting  especially for misdeeds or moral shortcomings... t o feel or show that you are sorry for something bad or wrong that you did and that you want to do what is right The leader told us that we would be forgiven for our sins if we  repented . criminals who have  repented  for their crimes —  sometimes +  of We must  repent of  our sins/wrongdoings. — repentance   /rɪ ˈ pɛntn̩s/     noun   [ noncount ] His behavior is...

Mishpatim - Build UP With Tikkun Olam

In this week’s Torah Portion,  Mishpatim  , we continue to see the introduction of Laws, and the building of a strong foundation based upon  Ethics , a person’s  Civil  manner, and  Moralistic  values. The ethical, moral, and civil aspect are a great teaching in Judaism, in fact, a great foundation in all life, and it has given each person an important uniqueness and a possible proactive impact on him/herself, and to the group. To have a relationship, a healthy one at least, you must strive for that of being ethical, and very civil, and have moral DNA..  This is speaking of human dignity, preserving our own feelings and that of others, and understanding them, having self -worth, and continuing our own focus, as well as consideration for others that allows growth and accepts a proactive change. We must not be  critical , so very, very critical of everything and so sensitive! It seems like we live in a society now that we ar...
