Vayikra - The Road Map Does Deviate

Vayikra - The Road Map Does Deviate!

Man at a Crossroads

4:2  Speak to the people of Israel, saying; if a person unwittingly transgresses any commandment, which should not be done, and commits one of these sins in a careless behavior, then........

The Readers Digest Version and Overview: Moses is commanded to give VERY specific and particular instructions of sacrifices, gifts to the Temple, and the how to's to properly present AND not transgress & deviate from the directions. It's like Ikea directions!

We have absolutley grown and matured into a society that does challenge, that asks difficult and vital questions that are important to us, ourselves, to our families, and to our surrounding communities!

Does this mean the message from Mose's lips were wrong? Incorrect? Ill-fated?  Seems maybe so.

Absolutely Not!   It is extremely important in any and all civil communities to have some  instilled and outlined directions and laws, coupled with an ebb and flow; a recurrent or rhythmical pattern of coming and going or decline and regrowth.  It makes life and society grow in an upward direction with hopefully a positive result. It's like planting seeds in the Spring time in your yard, many do not ever come out and grow and bloom, blooming a single bud, or yield food, but 'some' do and survive and rise and carry on and prosper in a healthy manner!  They bloom and mature, rest, and take a hiatus during the remainder of the year, and absolutley Pop up Healthy AGAIN and AGAIN in a beautiful cycle !
It is it's own direction to follow, and part of The Circle of Life!

We, as a World, live in a current time with the Corona Virus spreading like a wild fire, and as a World, are attempting to managing it to containment !   Are there specific directions, is there only ONE manner to stop this, are we working diligently and properly together?
Yes & No!   Adaptation is key and vital here, and in LIFE, itself.

Mose's message may need a little updating and/or deciphering to be adaptable to today; but with this expressed, directions, outlines, life are forever changing and that's healthy, with a complete comprehension and sincere understanding.

With our own life experiences, and it can most definitely be simplified in terms that we all will get it with indelible ink and the memory of what 'we' should have done or acted upon as the best choice going forward, not just for our own pleasure.  Sometimes rules change, to benefit THE WHOLE, although it might seem extremely inconvenient or painfully induced to the individual, you.  Adaptation is key, and YES, questions are indeed healthy. Keep asking away!

Remember about your own actions, GOOD, INTERESTING,and INDIFFERENT- The act and impact, the feeling of guilt (or not) and the memory, the infraction, if indeed an infraction happened, and how it affected all others.   Each and every decision, each and every movement has an affect!  Choose wisely and Stay Home for the sake of life's and humanity going forward!

Love to all and have a loving and healthy Shabbat,
Barry

Shelach - Seek & Look Around!

Seek & Look Around.... “And what the land is, whether it is plentiful or bare, be there trees, or not……”  (13:20) It is explained by Rashi that “ TREE ” is metaphorically referring to an honorable and righteous person who shall protect and defend his domain! A very admirable characteristic indeed. We all are aware that Moses was sending in ‘the spies’, should he not have sent them in with a directive of searching for an honorable person and a home of righteousness, prayer, and sincere study of Torah?  Why then did Moses send them to just public areas?  I see the answer is rather simplistic in nature, but with deep thought; when a city/town has a population of honorable and righteous persons and those who govern, it is reflective upon the city/town itself!  As I’ve shared before, the influence of a person and his/her solid attributes and sincere beliefs are not bound by a ‘wall’, but rather felt by the community where he/she resides, and the ...

Ki Tisa - A Choice For Growth

Ki Tisa - A Choice for Growth March 2&3, 2018 In this week's reading, we read that within just a few weeks after Moses presented The Torah to  the people, the masses descended to a deeply disturbing behavior when Moses was not among them and embarked back to Mt. Sinai; the sinful behavior of worshipping idols! –  The Golden Calf! There was extreme upheaval, disturbing behaviors, but we read that Moses stepped up and pleaded with  such sincerity,  love and thoughtfulness, and shares that benign attitude and talks to the people with humanity! He made  a choice. He  chose to not create even more disturbing behavior, but made the decision to try to create a  positive environment and build up, and with the people through this "hiccup".  Does this mean, we as people can practice disturbing behavior, commit a crime, tell a blatant lie, hurt another life, etc. and then immediat...

Ki Teitzi ei - We are and/or need to be ONE!

Ki Teitzi ei - We are and/or  need to be ONE!                                      In this week's Torah portion, we read about many mitzvahs/commandments- 74 to be exact, and that is more than in any other Torah reading!  We can see that in Hebrew, this is Ayin Dalet , which also stands for ‘ed’ (not pronounced like Mr. Ed or the movie “Ted”).  The two letters in the Hebrew alphabet, Ayin and Dalet are enlarged in the first sentence of the Shema, and together these two letters form the word ‘ed’, which means ‘witness’ or ‘forever’, strongly suggesting that the Shema has the utmost influence on us, day in and day out!   It should be within our souls. Interestingly, the word ‘echad’ in Hebrew can imply a unity in diversity.  For example, Exodus 26:6 when speaking of the Tabernacle (Mishkan) is to be built so that “it shall be built, so it will be one (echad) ...
