Vayakheil - Pekudei : It's Time For Shabbat Behavior

Vayakheil - Pekudei

In this week's Torah Portion, we read that Moses is giving specific instructions to finish the Tabernacle/Temple, it's adornments, and how to celebrate and observe Shabbat, the Sabbath.  We all have read and or have followed instructions before, whether it's printed/online, or basically dictated to us, as Moses gave to the people.

The people listened, and in fact, reacted extremely well this time around and did not deviate from plan.  We, as an entire world are experiencing something so extreme right now, The Coronavirus,Covid-19 pandemic.  Uncertainty, worry, restrictions, enforceable rules & regulations for our safety have been instructed for the foreseeable future!  Is it an inconvenience to some?  Of course!  It's for our safety and honestly, to save our lives and that of survival!

This goes way beyond ANY leader, president, prime minister; this is a worldwide issue and we must work together, hand n hand (forgive the pun), and practice what we all TALK about, Tikkun Olam, repairing the world one mitzvah at a time ---
the prospect of overcoming all forms of idolatry, an an aspiration to behave and act constructively and beneficially for the sake and welfare of the world!

No matter who the leader is (or not), the message is the same- stay safely put at home, if able and follow instructions. Do not put yourself or loved ones at risk, please.  ......Stay put, relax (as much as one is able), chill, and.....Sounds like we need Shabbat!
We Need Shabbat; it's a time of chilling, a time for deep thought, a time for friends and family (which is physically limited now), but call your parents, or sibling before Shabbat and check in and be Shabbat Present!

In times of despair and worry,we must listen to the message(s) as well as decipher the instructions and be unified and listen to OUR MOSES' of the world!

I can't wait until Friday for Shabbat 'n Chill, then replenish, and then so forth the next week and practice Tikkun Olam. We need to practice Shabbat Behavior!

Shabbat Shalom,
Barry

Terumah - What's The Gift ?

Terumah - What's The Gift ? February 16 and 17, 2018 The word, "Terumah" means "gift', "contribution", "offering" .  This Torah portion continues to detail and share the story of the building of "The Tabernacle, or Temple", and it's ornamentation from the men and women! Women?  Yes, it explicitly states that the instructions that were utilized were intended for BOTH men and women!  This really stands out in indelible ink of sorts, as it is very clear that women were invited and actively open to participate in an inclusive manner, in what might be considered a very male dominated cult-like society!   The interpretation, "Let THEM make a sanctuary", "men AND women, all whose hearts moved them."  This really stands out beautifully, as THE women got to be participants and viewed with some equality, as well as some equity in society! Is the actual "building" of the Temple the gift ...

Do We Really Expect Results From Repenting?

Do We Really Expect Results From Repentance? As Yom Kippur approaches us, we are asked & expected ,year in and year out, on this ONE day to repent for our wrongdoings, impure thoughts, harmful acts, and ill behaviors for the past year!  Judaism is NOT the only religion/faith to follow this thought , as other ones also have their asking of forgiveness and repentance.  According to Merriam Webster; the action or process of  repenting  especially for misdeeds or moral shortcomings... t o feel or show that you are sorry for something bad or wrong that you did and that you want to do what is right The leader told us that we would be forgiven for our sins if we  repented . criminals who have  repented  for their crimes —  sometimes +  of We must  repent of  our sins/wrongdoings. — repentance   /rɪ ˈ pɛntn̩s/     noun   [ noncount ] His behavior is...

Mishpatim - Build UP With Tikkun Olam

In this week’s Torah Portion,  Mishpatim  , we continue to see the introduction of Laws, and the building of a strong foundation based upon  Ethics , a person’s  Civil  manner, and  Moralistic  values. The ethical, moral, and civil aspect are a great teaching in Judaism, in fact, a great foundation in all life, and it has given each person an important uniqueness and a possible proactive impact on him/herself, and to the group. To have a relationship, a healthy one at least, you must strive for that of being ethical, and very civil, and have moral DNA..  This is speaking of human dignity, preserving our own feelings and that of others, and understanding them, having self -worth, and continuing our own focus, as well as consideration for others that allows growth and accepts a proactive change. We must not be  critical , so very, very critical of everything and so sensitive! It seems like we live in a society now that we ar...
